An Eight-Year Journey
Project Kindred is an eight-year experiential leadership program that develops diverse communities of empowered young leaders in communities divided by segregation.
Our goal is to equip young people with the skills, values, and relationships needed to build a more diverse, equitable, and loving Milwaukee.
The program kicks off in 5th grade, where participants will form a team with diverse peers and role models that they will work with throughout their journey, forming incredibly deep bonds that will last a lifetime!

Ramblers
Welcome to the Kindred Community! Ramblers will join us for one week of Camp Kindred, our signature overnight camp experience. They will meet lots of new people, and participate in all of our traditional camp activities like campfires, hikes, archery, swimming, capture the flag, and more!

Explorers
Explorers participate in a full year of Kindred programs! They engage in community building and explore their identity among their peers throughout the school year and summer. They will learn what it means to be a friend and how each person plays a part in the bigger team they create. This all comes together in the summer as they explore the campsite and take a crack at outdoor camping!

Voyagers
Voyagers continue to participate in a full year of Kindred programs. This group will keep working to build a strong team and explore what it means to work together. In the summer, Voyagers will go on a four-day off-site expedition during their summer camp week.

Current 11th & 12th graders
Leaders (junior staff)
Leaders join our team as junior staff and will get to put their leadership skills into practice with various roles throughout the school year and the summer. This unique leadership role allows participants to pay it forward by helping build an inclusive and equitable Kindred community for younger participants. Leaders will earn a stipend for their work.
